Sovereign Ballet welcomes a new addition to their staff, Madeline Groenendaal! “We are so looking forward to having her be a part of such a great organization. I can’t wait for the year to start!” exclaims Christina Maria, director of Sovereign Ballet. Read more about Madeline:
Madeline was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, received her early training at Lake Erie Ballet and Erie Dance Conservatory until her graduation from high school in 2011 with honors in Arts and Humanities with an emphasis on dance performance through duel enrollment at Mercyhurst University.
During the summer of 2009 she attended Pittsburgh Ballet Theater’s summer dance intensive, under the direction of their professional faculty and guest artists. She also participated in the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater’s summer choreography program and set an original piece titled Violin Concerto Movement 1.
Upon recognizing her desire to use dance as ministry, she moved to Jackson, MS in the fall of 2011 to attend Ballet Magnificat’s Trainee program under the direction of Cassandra Voborsky in which she toured the greater Jackson metropolis and overseas in the Dominican Republic through two mission trips through Hispaniola Mountain Ministries.
She graduated from the trainee program May, 2013 and began teaching at Ballet Magnificat’s School of the Arts later that year. She has taught several classes from amongst the School’s lower and upper levels. In 2015, Madeline traveled to Italy as a missionary to begin work at Gallery 4, proclaiming the name of Jesus Christ through the arts. She is looking forward to teaching at Sovereign Ballet this year where she can share her love for the Lord through dance with the students.
