Triple Threat

Sixteen year old Brooke Kimet has loved the stage since she was a young child. “In kindergarten, we were (strongly encouraged) to perform on stage. A lot of kids cried, I immediately loved being in the spotlight.” Brooke has since been in 17 theater productions, countless dance performances and numerous Show Chorus events. She is also a member of the National Thespian Society.  Most recently she played a “Tormentor” in Villa Maria/Cathedral Prep’s production of Jesus Christ Super Star, and is gearing up for Grease in May.

Brooke has found her calling as an actress. It’s what she was born to do. So, why spend 12 hours a week on average in a ballet studio when acting is your passion? Brooke is smart, that’s why. She not only has a 5.5 GPA (a National Honor Society member) but she has a plan….. “Nowadays, performers often have to be expert as singers, dancers, and actors. That’s because being an ‘actor who sings’ or a ‘dancer who acts’ might not be good enough to get you a job in a show. In this competitive business, anyone with a leg (or two) up on other performers is that much closer to seeing his name up in lights” Ben Penser, Theater Development Foundation. “Many Actors dance, not all have good technique,” says Kimet.

On stage, Brooke Kimet is considered a Triple Threat. This means she can act, dance and sing. These are key ingredients for success in Theater. The most important ingredient is determination. Determination is a staple in Brooke’s personality. “Brooke may be small in stature but what she lacks in physical size she makes up for in a magnanimous personality.  I love how God has made a way for Brooke to merge her many talents.  And He’s not finished with her yet.  She also tells the most compelling stories through choreography.  Often dealing with issues that we don’t want to admit exists, which can make me uncomfortable, yet she has a way of finding redemption in the end,” states Christina Maria, director of Sovereign Ballet.

Brooke is a sophomore at Villa Maria Academy and has plans to go to Marymount University in Manhattan majoring in either forensics or neuropsychology with a theater minor.
